The Analytic and Translational Genetics Unit (ATGU) within the Department of Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) seeks applicants for an Assistant or Associate Professor (Harvard Medical School) faculty position. All ATGU faculty are concurrently affiliated with the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT. ATGU has a unique position at the interface between cutting edge genomic sciences and the application of these techniques in clinical practice at a world-leading hospital.
ATGU has recently launched the Genomics of Public Health Initiative, with the goal of leveraging large-scale genomic datasets to elucidate the biological basis of disease, identify causal epidemiological risk factors and develop the methods and tools for bringing genomic insights into a clinical setting.
The successful applicant will be expected to direct a transformative research program in the development or application of methods to translate genetic discovery efforts into biological insights, clinical testing and/or the identification of epidemiological risk factors. Ideal candidates will have experience leading large-scale collaborative scientific endeavors and/or bring expertise in the development of computational and statistical methods in the target research areas. The position requires outstanding experience in medical or population genetics, genomics or bioinformatics. The ATGU is an extremely collaborative and cross-disciplinary environment, so applicants must be able to integrate with the broader local scientific community, and teach Harvard Medical School students.
